Extending their opening hours past 2pm this year, the owners of Cheeky's unveil Birba �" an architectural eatery right next-door to the famous breakfast/lunch spot. Accessed directly adjacent to the original Cheeky's along a garden patio, a post-and-beam kitchen with wood fire over features box-shaped outdoor bar with perky staff that merges the energy of a cocktail lounge with a first-rate gourmet pizzeria menu. The outdoor dining room features frill-free tables and translucent bistro chairs under a canopy of outdoor heaters and swaying palm trees as well as a lively front lounge facing Palm Canyon Drive. Tagged as a pizza and cocktails kitchen, the customized wood fire oven delivers cheesy perfection from 5pm in a cheery outdoor dining space and architectural glass-enclosed eatery with outdoor bar.
The Food
A simple one-page menu offers a collection of four signature salads including a Tricolore Chopped with arugula and fried garlic with aged Parmesan or Di Stefano Burrata with cherry tomatoes and English cucumbers. Pizzas can be custom ordered with toppings like mushrooms, smoked mozzarella, prosciutto and homemade sausage in personal-sized presentations. Otherwise tuck into one of the white pizzas with Gorgonzola and potato or prosciutto and arugula also available in gluten-free versions.
